Back in September of 2018, I hosted my first photography workshop called Inspire. I had been pushed to do so for over a year at that point. I really had no excuse not to, and I had a handful of people tell me that they would be interested. So I thought, what the heck. Just go for it Madi. And I did. And it sold out. There were only 14 spots available, but 14 people being interested in hearing what I had to say and learn from me? Of all people? Whoa. Still not real to me.
But it happened. It was amazing. And ever since then, the concept of Inspire Co. has been on my heart. Writing is something I love. It challenges me. It helps me express myself and my feelings. It allows me to share ideas and beliefs. Unfortunately, I’ve allowed it to be on the back burner for a while now. While in college, I was writing every day for my journalism classes. It was almost always prompt writing, but it was still writing. Being out of college for the last 6 months (what?!) has made me realize how much I miss writing for myself.
The tagline of the Inspire workshop is "Creating a Life You Love" and I think it is fitting to carry that tagline into Inspire Co. My vision behind this little corner of my blog is to have a space where creatives can come and learn, be inspired, and hear from myself as well as others. I don't want this space to only be my voice and experiences being heard. I'm a strong believer that two heads are better than one. And community over competition is essential. My hope is that this space becomes community for you. That we can learn, grow and build a creative community together. I hope that through this resource, and the potential of future workshops and conferences (?!), that you would take the leap and begin creating a life you love.
Another topic you will see around here is faith. It is a huge part of my life, and I feel called to share the truths and goodness He is constantly teaching me. I have been given a gift of writing, and it is time I stop sitting on it and use it as a tool to glorify God and make His name great.
If I’m being completely honest, I hate the word "blog." I know… I work in an industry filled with bloggers. One of my best friends IS a blogger. And on top of that, I interned for the main hub for all fashion bloggers for a summer. But the reason I don't like the word is because of the negative connotation so many people in the world have given it. A blog can be so much more than the title society has placed upon it. It’s a place that inspires. A place that connects. A place that allows someone to relate to a complete stranger. A place that allows creativity to come alive. Instead of continuing to being fearful of what the world will say about "another blog," I have decided to not care. And instead use my voice and this platform as a tool of encouragement, motivation, and inspiration.
I plan to add a branch of Inspire Co. that offers creative services to all you entrepreneurs and small businesses out there. My passion is all things creative. I have a heart for entrepreneurs and small businesses. I have been there. Heck, I still am there. I know the work that it takes and all the little things that go into it. If you are going to begin creating a life you love, sometimes you need a little help getting there. Not everyone is going to be skilled in every little aspect of running a business, and that is okay! You're allowed to hand things over. You don't have to wear all of the hats. So be on the lookout for that in the (hopefully) near future!
Thank you for stopping by to check out this little passion project of mine. I know it's not going to be easy. There's going to be plenty of bumps in the road, but I am so excited for the journey ahead!
